Good Morning Race Fans!!!
A good time was had by all this past Thursday at WIR... It was MCL Night at the races and the 75 lap Blue Race!!!
We started out the night putting down a good qualifying lap... 19.5... making the show by time and taking the pressure off the team.
Then we headed out on the track for the parade of flags during the national anthem. It was exciting seeing all the people from MCL down there as we got to carry their flags during the parade lap. It was also our night to give out our donation for the FRRC 4 Kids Club. There was one excited little girl that got to come down and get her prize of a shopping spree to toys r us!
With qualifying well, and no heat races, there was a small break in the action for me to head up and meet some great people from MCL and sign a few autograph cards up in the Dick Trickly Pavillion. Everyone was having a great time, a few drinks and a pretty good looking spread of food!
Then it was time to get back on the track for the feature event. We started on the front row outside and took full advantage of the starting position. We took the lead after the first turn and lead the first 40 laps.... we were as far out as a full straightaway over 2nd place for most of the race! The car got just a tick tight and the 12 time track champion #8 Terry Baldry ran us down... followed by Travis Sauter, dropping us to 3rd...
We were running solid in 3rd and a trailing arm bracket broke on the rear suspension and we were forced to retire from the race with roughly 7 laps left... A great night turned to dissapointment.
We did have alot of fun putting on a exciting show for the crew from MCL... and had a great time in the pits afterwards... Alot of fans came down and we had snacks and cake for Tom Sr's 56th Birthday!!!
Only 2 more weeks left!!! Be sure to make it down!!! The last Thursday night Sept 1st is Fan Appreciation Night... Free Beer and Free Corn Roast after the races!!!
